Impacts at Spühl/Fides

We are very concerned about the worldwide spread of the COVID-19 virus. Together with our mother company Leggett & Platt, we have taken a number of precautionary measures that protect our employees, but also ensure business continuity for our customers, such as machine/spare parts production and deliveries.

On March 16, 2020, the Swiss Federal Council proclaimed the “national emergency”. He can now order all necessary measures for the whole country by emergency ordinance without the consent of the Parliament. Due to the worldwide state-mandated quarantine measures, possible shortage can occur in the supply chain, so that agreed contractual performances can partly - or in the worst case - not be fulfilled. Among other things, our Customer Service will be restricted accordingly, as due to the strict restrictions, our service technicians and freelancers are not allowed to travel. However, we will provide you with the best possible support through our Helpdesk for any machine problems you might have.

As a result we would like to refer to the Force Majeure clause in our General Terms and Conditions, article 9.2, last section. The Force Majeure is understood to mean unforeseen circumstances that act from the outside and lead to a party not being able to fulfill the contract. The outbreak of the Corona Virus falls under this Force Majeure clause.

Unfortunately we are currently unable to estimate how long these events will last and which contractual performances will be affected. We are working very closely with our suppliers and forwarders to offer you the best possible alternatives. We will inform you immediately in case we have information about any supply chain interruption.

Thank you for taking notice and your understanding. If you have any further questions, please get in touch with your contact person at Spühl directly.

Kind regards and stay healthy!
